My Body Is A Cage: Poetry and The Physical Self

My Body Is A Cage: Poetry and The Physical Self
Saturday, March 15, 2025 (1:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (CDT)
Description
This generative poetry workshop dares us to answer the question: how can our bodies be utilized in poetic expression? We will start by discussing poems that center the physical body and all its parts, before moving on to creating and sharing our own body-centered pieces for generous and supportive group feedback.
Students may choose to write electronically with their own devices or by hand with provided pen and paper and should feel comfortable sharing their work in a group setting.
Poets discussed will include Lucille Clifton, Nick Flynn, Kenny Fries, Cathy Park Hong, and Robin Ekiss.
Class size 15
Level Beginner and above
Student Supply List An electronic device if that is the preferred writing method, or personal pen and paper. If no preference for pen and paper type, I will also have pen and paper on hand for students.
