Description
Spend a relaxed summer afternoon at Folklore Village’s fi rst annual Summer Sociable, a community-centered open house celebrating summertime, local connection, and the spirit of the Driftless Region. Wander the grounds at your own pace while enjoying lawn games, hands-on craft activities, storytelling, demonstrations, prairie walks, and opportunities to learn more about Folklore Village’s programs, history, and mission. Meet volunteers, tradition-bearers, artists, and neighbors while exploring the beauty of the campus and its historic spaces, including the prairies and the ongoing Aslak Lie House project.
The afternoon is designed as a welcoming drop-in experience for all ages, whether you stay for a short visit or spend the whole day exploring. Families, longtime community members, and fi rst-time visitors are all invited to reconnect with the heart of Folklore Village through creativity, conversation, folk traditions, and simple summertime fun.
The celebration continues into the evening with a picnic supper and family-friendly barn dance from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. After an afternoon outdoors, gather in Farwell Hall for live music, dancing, and community fellowship. No dance experience is needed, and all ages are welcome.
